La Montata winery is located in the northern area of Sant’Angelo in Vado. Entirely sheltered from the northerly winds, part of its vineyards are at the altitude of approximately 400m above sea level, with the exposure that enjoys the cool Apennine climate positive for reducing humidity typical for the area in very hot summer days and exceptional temperatures ideal for aromas development in September.
The grape varieties grown at the winery include Trebbiano Toscano, Biancame, Sauvignon, Bruni Cross for Whites; and Sangiovese, Alicante, Aleatico, Montepulciano for the Reds. All the grapes are hand-picked and placed in small crates 3-5 kilograms each and pressed afterwards. Fermentation and ageing is carried out in small wooden casks (220 and 112 litres) as per Marche Region IGT Protocol.
